Children’s Theatre of Mesilla Valley
Theatre challenges kids to be brave, bold, and themselves. At ACT, we empower young people to step into the spotlight—whether they’re shy or outgoing, experienced or brand-new.
Our Mission
At A Children’s Theatre of the Mesilla Valley (ACT), we believe in the transformative power of theatre to inspire young minds and nurture confident, creative individuals. Through engaging, hands-on theatre experiences, children ages 5 to 18 explore their talents, connect with others, and grow both on stage and in life. ACT is a place where every child is celebrated, encouraged, and empowered. To ensure this opportunity is accessible to all families, ACT offers scholarships, making theatre education possible for all young people.
What We Offer
Our Programs
A Children’s Theatre of the Mesilla Valley provides exceptional theatre education and performance opportunities for young people ages 5-18. We offer two distinct program types to accommodate different experience levels and interests, with all performances held at the Historic Rio Grande Theatre in downtown Las Cruces.
Student Production Classes
Red Cast & Green Cast System
Our signature student production classes run for 8 weeks and culminate in live performances at the Rio Grande Theatre. To ensure more children can participate, we offer a unique Red Cast and Green Cast system—running two simultaneous classes of the same show with separate performance weekends.
Audition-Based Productions
Throughout the year, ACT produces special audition-based shows that are open to students of all ages who wish to challenge themselves in a competitive audition environment.
ACT-Teen Productions
Our ACT-Teen program is designed specifically for teenagers who are ready for more challenging and mature theatrical content. This annual production offers older students the opportunity to explore complex characters and themes in a supportive, age-appropriate environment.
